Reading ‘Mein Kampf’ Racist act? 3

I have always believed that reading the book Mein Kampf, the “angry ranting of an obscure, small-party politician” Adolf Hitler is not necessarily a racist act in the least. Understanding what went on in Hitler’s mind is an important part of understanding history and criminal psychology. It can help us avoid the rise of another ‘Hitler’. Truth be told, there are twisted people in this world that read the book and sympathize with Hitler’s struggle, but I think a lot of people just want to read it to understand the complex mindset of arguably the worst criminal of modern age.

I haven’t personally read it, but it would be in the top 10 books that I’d like to read in the near future.

I couldn’t agree more with you, Jim. This “politically correct” censorship is starting to really get on my nerves.

It’s as if everyone is treated as a potential nazi and mass murderer, and we must make sure nobody is exposed to seeing a schwastika, cuz man, all hell will break lose, and the entire population (who obviously must be nazis at heart) will suddenly rush down the street, find the nearest jew and shove in their microwave oven

For fuck’s sake, is humankind in THAT sad a state, that someone has to “think” for us?

a few years back, a friend of mine in the news biz told me that Chapters/Indigo CEO Heather Reisman disallowed the stocking and sale of Mein Kampf in all of the Chapters/Indigo stores — bricks and mortar — as well as online.

It’s definitely not available at the Chapters’ Bloor St. location or the Indigo store in the Manulife Building on Bay.

I wonder if ‘voracious reader’ Heather Reisman has bothered to:

A) read the book and see that it is a badly-written journalistic rant

B) consider Mein Kampf as a valuable historical and literary artifact

C) ban some of the tripe that actual Jewish writers are turning out – the kind that is non-experiential and only exploits the lives and deaths of those directly involved in the genocide
