Here are some quotes from one of the most influential Prime Ministers in Canada’s history (Pierre Elliott Trudeau – 1919-2000):
“Reason over passion.”
“Be ready when opportunity comes…Luck is the time when preparation and opportunity meet.”
“The essential ingredient of politics is timing.”
“Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.”
“We wish nothing more, but we will accept nothing less. Masters in our own house we must be, but our house is the whole of Canada.”
I think my favourite quote, among the ones you listed, is reason over passion. It seems to me that reason is always a key ingredient of a sound argument – but in spite of this, passion is very tempting and often wins the day. I have to remind myself of this philosophy often – perhaps too often.
Nonetheless, can I conclude that you’ve cracked the spine on Tudeau’s Shadow?
Very true Brett. Actually, I haven’t cracked open the book yet. I had a very busy weekend and didn’t have any time to think of anything to write about, so I decided to put up some quotes, and the first person that came to mind that I haven’t quoted in previous posts was Mr. Trudeau. I’m hoping once the weather is nice and warm I’ll be reading more while sitting in the sun 😉 But right now I don’t seem to have much time to read which is unfortunate.
Reason over passion…
Interesting, coming from a guy that doggy-pounded Barbara Streisand, and Margot Kidder, AND Kim Cattral.
