‘i share the road’ campaign launch 5

On Friday, the ‘i share the road’ campaign officially kicked off when a box of 15,000 ‘i share the road’ stickers arrived at my door. The purpose of the campaign is to use a positive message to promote sharing the road between people in cars and people on bicycles.

With all the negativity and animosity already on our streets, the intention of these stickers is to bring drivers and cyclists together by allowing drivers and cyclists to share the same message of mutual sharing. After all, many cyclists are occasional drivers, and many drivers are occasional cyclists.

The campaign has been well received thus far. On Friday we shipped out more than 1,000 stickers in 57 packages to 9 different countries in 3 continents to fulfil the orders we have received through the isharetheroad.com website.

Of those 57 orders, 38 people made a donation to the campaign, and 4 people ordered stickers in bulk. To those of you who donated, thank you for your support on this initiative. Your donation helps to cover the costs of the campaign and allows me to give out free stickers at various events without digging a deeper hole in my wallet.

I have also been putting the stickers in random places in my neighbourhood. Just this morning I was on a conference call at my home office and I saw a man peel off an i share the road sticker that I had stuck to a pole on Friday. I hope he made good use of it.

Below are some photos of the stickers and some places where I have stuck them so far. There is also a blurb on the back, so you can hand these stickers out to help spread the campaign.

Go to isharetheroad.com to order 10 free stickers if you haven’t already. You should receive them within a week or two depending on where you are located.

I hope to some day spot these stickers on a random vehicle in a random city. Help us spread the word!

    Good for you James!
Having just read about your campaign in Saturday’s Star (along with the tragic news on the death and injury of more cyclists) I am compelled to write (my first time responding to a blog).
I am not a cyclist, but I am a pedestrian in this city and have almost been run over far too many times at green right of way intersections and cross walks by both men and women displaying arrogant and thoughtless behavior behind the wheels of their cars. And as a some time driver of a car I drive with intent that people on bikes and on foot always have right of way on our roads over people in machinery that can maim or kill others. I am in full support of your drive in good faith campaign!
I wish you best of luck and I will be passing the word on.

This is a query, not info for posting.
I wish to make a donation and purchase stickers. Since I have rarely given my credit card via the net, is it possible to mail you a cheque? Do you have a post box, and if so how should I address the cheque? I’m just a little hesitant in giving private information out. If not and I must fill in the online form of payment I will.
    Please let me know.

Give your vehicle a thorough cleaning and allow it to dry. If you wax your vehicle when you clean it, allow several days for the wax to fully-cure before applying the decal. Non-cured vehicle wax could cause adhesion problems with the vinyl.
