Every day on my commute to work (12 minute walk), I walk by a street level office for a company called “Manpower Inc.”. The poster on the window has the corporate Manpower logo and a picture of a woman. Upon looking into the office, I notice that every single person working in this office is a woman. There are about 40 women working in the office for a company called “Manpower”.

Headhunting for Power Lesbians?
Jim,
That is a weird coincidence. However, Human Resource Management has the highest ratio of women in its employ and since Manpower is a temporary service agency its not suprising that there are a lot of women working as office workers and managers for manpower offices. I use to work for them, until I got employed at the place I was temping at – a credit union – now talk about women in management (lesbean and straight).
singularity, it makes sense that there are a lot of women in a Human Resources agency; I’ve just always found it funny that the company is called “Manpower” in a world of political correctness that complains about calling someone a “fireman”. The fact that there was only women in this office just makes the name even more funny.
I agree with you on this one, Jim. Manpower does seem a bit pre-political correctness. And your observation, women comprising the entire staff, does seem to showcase a certain irony here.
I have worked for Manpower for 15 years. The First “Manpower” office opened in the late 1940’s and only featured Office Temps who were women; no men. Political correctness has gone too far.
