Browsing through an Israeli newspaper today, I found an article where Dr. Udi Lebel of Ben-Gurion University points out that Israel is ready to accept civilian losses, but the support for the Israel aggression will deteriorate as more soldiers fall.
This logic is different than most conventional wars where it’s the soldier’s duty to fall for his country.
In other news in this popular Israeli newspaper, there is an article entitled “Forgotten in Gaza” that sounds very fitting to talk about the suffering of the Palestinian people, but when you look further into the article it talks about how life is not easy for Israeli soldiers in Gaza and since the fighting began in North Israel, the Gaza soldiers have been ‘forgotten’.
Other articles include “Egypt primes children for jihad“, “UK Islamists: Make jihad on Israel” and “Rabbis: War for a clean conscience“.
I don’t have any hatred toward any religion, country or any group of people. I’m actually opposed to the type of segregation that religion and geography has caused in our world. All of the hatred in the world is a result of people having a strong and passionate sense of belonging to some sort of group. But this is our world and I have to accept it. But one thing I try to do is educate myself as much as I can on history and inhabitants of this earth. I want to understand where every person is coming from, why they have their views, where their hate comes from. This is the part that both fascinates and infuriates me.
I also feel that most people aren’t going to take the time to educate themselves and they’re going to believe what they were raised to believe and the hatred will never end. If I didn’t take the time to get a different perspective, and I only visited the Israeli newspaper noted above, I’d probably think that half the world is a “terrorist”. I’ve met a Jewish person who literally becomes scared every time she sees a Muslim person thinking that they are going to blow her up. I even witnessed this take place with a group of old harmless grandparent looking ladies with headscarves. This is the way she was raised, and she will probably always have that fear and hatred, it’s hard to shake that off.
And it’s very sad.
